Met Council appoints Jordan director of equal opportunity

The Twin Cities' Metropolitan Council has named Cyrenthia Jordan director of the Office of Equal Opportunity.

Jordan, an attorney, joins the council from Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she served as director of equal opportunity and Title IX since 2015. In that role, she guided the university on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, affirmative action review in employee hiring, recruitment and retention.

"[Jordan] is a partnership builder, focused on collaboration and transparency," said Met Council Chair Alene Tchourumoff. "Those skills are crucial in the role of director of equal opportunity, where Cyrenthia will lead the council's affirmative action and equal opportunity plans, administer business inclusion programs, investigate discrimination complaints, and serve as a leader on building equity into all of the regional services the Council provides."

The Met Council oversees Metro Transit, which provides light-rail, commuter-rail, bus and paratransit services in the Twin Cities.
