Aberdeen eyes Maryland DOT grant to improve commuter-rail station

The city of Aberdeen, Md., in May will apply for a Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) grant to improve the Aberdeen Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) train station.

If approved for the grant, the city would use the funds to add accessible pathways and improve waiting areas, wayfinding and lighting.

Those enhancements would be in addition to remodeling work that's already underway at the station, The Aegis newspaper reported.

The money would come from the MDOT's Transportation Alternatives Program. Last year, the city was denied a grant through the program, according to the newspaper.
