Ernest Camacho has been appointed to the California High-Speed Rail Authority's (CHSRA) board, the agency announced late last week.

Camacho is the founder, president and chief executive officer of engineering firm Pacifica Services Inc. He previously served as chairman of the Rail Construction Corp., which was responsible for the design and construction of the Blue, Red and Green rail lines in Los Angeles County.

"Mr. Camacho has had a distinguished career in project and construction management, and his wealth of knowledge and experience will be a valuable asset to the board as we continue to move forward with construction," said CHSRA Chair Dan Richard in a press release.

Meanwhile, California State Sen. Jim Beall (D-San Jose) was appointed to an "ex officio" board position.

His appointment follows a California law signed last year that added two non-voting ex officio slots on the board. One slot is designated for a member of California's Senate, while the other is for a member of the California State Assembly.

The Assembly position has yet to be filled, CHSRA officials said.
