Canada's Maloney touts VIA Rail maintenance center improvements

Canadian Parliament member James Maloney last week highlighted a federal investment in improvements at VIA Rail Canada Inc.'s maintenance center in Toronto.

The project included upgrades to mechanical, electrical, HVAC and water treatment systems, as well as yard track.

The Canadian government also paid for roof repairs and other measures to ensure regulatory compliance and improve the center's efficiency, according to a Transport Canada news release.

The project was partially funded through a 34.4 million Canadian dollar investment.
