DCTA selects commuter-rail operations, maintenance contractor
Under the contract, RGPC is responsible for signaling, dispatching, maintenance of tracks and operations and communications.Photo – DCTAThe Denton County Transportation Authority’s (DCTA) board last month approved a contract with Rio Grande Pacific Corp. (RGPC) and subcontractor Stadler U.S. Inc. to provide operations and vehicle maintenance services for the A-Line commuter-rail service in northern Texas.
Under the contract, which went into effect Oct. 31, RGPC is responsible for signaling, dispatching, maintenance of tracks and operations and communications. Stadler is responsible for maintaining DCTA’s rolling stock of 11 GTW DMU trains.
RGPC and Stadler will take over the remaining five years of a nine-year contract, with a five-year extension option for DCTA.
Six management-level employees and 14 engineers and conductors have transitioned to be part of RGPC. Twelve mechanical and support employees have joined the Stadler team.
