The Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) today is marking a quarter century of light-rail service in Denver.
The agency’s first rail line was the 5.3-mile Central Rail Line, which provided a connection between the Five Points neighborhood and downtown Denver, RTD officials said in a press release.
The Central Line is now known as the D Line. In January 2018, RTD split the D into two lines: the current D Line, which provides service between downtown Denver and Littleton, Colorado; and the L Line, which travels between downtown Denver and the Five Points and River North neighborhoods.
Over the past 25 years, RTD’s rail system has grown to include nearly 100 miles of track, with eight light-rail lines, three commuter-rail lines and the forthcoming N commuter-rail line, which RTD aims to open next year.
