Denver transit agency launches 'MyRide' fare payment system
RTD in January 2016 rolled out a pilot program for MyRide.Photo – Regional Transportation District of DenverThe Regional Transportation District (RTD) of Denver has formally launched a smart card fare payment system, the agency announced last week.
The "MyRide" system enable riders to load up to $200 to pay fares on RTD's trains and buses. Passengers with a MyRide card also receive a 25 cent discount per trip, RTD officials said in a press release.
Nearly 2,500 cards have been issued since the agency rolled out a pilot program for MyRide in January 2016.
"Every aspect of the MyRide program was designed to help our riders board our vehicles throughout our system with a simple tap of their card. This will speed up boarding times and increase our on-time performance on both our bus and rail networks," said Dave Genova, RTD's chief executive officer and general manager.
Monthly and day passes aren't yet available with the MyRide program.
