The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) has laid the final segment of elevated guideway for the Kamehameha Highway section of the city's planned 20-mile passenger-rail project.
Crews put the segment in place near the Aloha Stadium. HART now has built nearly 11 miles of elevated guideway running from Kapolei through Waipahu, Pearl City, Aiea and into Halawa, where the stadium is located.
The agency's crews finished setting the spans on the Kamehameha Highway section in a year. Post-tensioning, final set and finishing work on the guideway will follow the initial set and continue through January, agency officials said in a press release.
In March, HART's workers set the final section of guideway for the Oahu Farrington Highway section of the project. The guideway segments were cast at HART's precast yard in Kapolei.
