The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) next month will hold its first international rail forum for North America.

Scheduled to be held Dec. 8-9 at New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority headquarters, the event will bring together North American rail-operating transit agencies for discussions on several industry topics.

The forum's primary objective is to connect North America's transit-rail agencies to the "wealth of experience" available in the international transit community and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices, UITP officials said in a press release.

Transit executives from London, Paris, Toyko and Brussels will be in attendance.
