The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) yesterday announced it will launch its bike share program in North Hollywood, its busiest transit hub.

All Red Line rail stations and Orange Line bus stations will be served by the program, now that 16 new bike share stations have been installed in North Hollywood, Toluca Lake and Valley Village, LA Metro officials said in a press release.

Using LA Metro TAP fare cards, riders can pick up and return bikes at the bike share stations.

“With better connections to the Red and Orange lines, this expansion will give commuters in North Hollywood and throughout the [San Fernando] Valley more options for getting around in a fun and accessible way,” LA Department of Transportation General Manager Seleta Reynolds said in a press release.

To date, there are 150 bike share stations and 1,500 LA Metro bikes across Los Angeles. LA Metro will add six more stations to the North Hollywood area by year's, and plans to eventually add more than 4,000 bicycles to the program.
