The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) later today is hosting a virtual meeting and public forum to gather input on the agency’s strategic plan to manage and help its stakeholders improve the movement of goods through railways, ports, airports and freeways in Los Angeles County.

Los Angeles County is one of the nation’s top gateways for both domestic and international trade, handling over 30 percent of the nation’s containerized trade volume, LA Metro officials said in a press release.

LA Metro is seeking input from the public about how the county should manage the movement of goods to ensure they are moved efficiently and safely while reducing congestion and pollution.

The telephone town hall will provide an opportunity for county residents to discuss priorities and options, ask questions of LA Metro’s officials and provide more feedback as the agency plans for the future.

LA Metro initiated the Los Angeles County Goods Movement Strategic Plan in 2018 to develop policies and strategies that direct goods investment that is consistent with the agency’s long-term vision.

The plan outlines that LA Metro will become a partner in implementing a responsive and coordinated freight transportation system through policies that support a competitive global economy, and a steward of equitable and sustainable investments and technological innovation that will advance environmental goals for county residents, agency officials said.
