Transdev has appointed Luke McCaul general manager of the Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar system, the company announced Wednesday.

McCaul has more than 15 years of rail industry experience, including a stint as general manager of operations for Pan Am Railways. In that role, he was responsible for the daily operation of 136 Boston-area passenger trains and more than 60 freight trains operating in complex urban and suburban rail environments.

McCaul started at Pan Am Railways in 2002 as train operations manager. He also served as assistant director and general superintendent.

He assumes the duties of Mark Young, who has been serving as the Cincinnati Bell Connector's interim general manager after John Lee resigned in November 2016.

In July 2016, Transdev began operating the city's streetcar system under a five-year contract.
