OmniTRAX Inc. affiliate Sheffield Crossing 1 LLC is selling a 10-acre property to the city of Sand Springs, Okla., for use as a municipal public safety services site, including a fire department substation.
The lot is part of OmniTRAX's recently acquired Sand Springs Railway Co. and the adjacent 146-acre former steel mill site, which the short-line holding company purchased from Gerdau in 2014. The property is being developed for mixed use, including industrial, retail, office and transportation/ logistics.
"We support all of the communities where we have operations and our team members live," said OmniTRAX Chief Executive Officer Kevin Shuba in a press release. "The opportunity to provide a location for the new Sand Springs Public Safety Facility is a huge win for all of us."
Working with Sand Springs officials, OmniTRAX is in conversations with various companies to build a retail development along Highway 97.
