The province of Ontario has invited selected teams from a request for qualifications process to respond to a request for proposals that will detail how they plan to design and deliver the tunneling work for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension.
Selected teams include:
East End Connectors, led by Dragados Canada Inc., Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and Ghella Canada Ltd.;
Fast Eglinton Group, led by FCC Construccion SA, Astaldi Canada Enterprises Inc. and Salini-Impregilo SpA; and
North American Tunnel Partners, led by EllisDon Capital Inc. and Barnard LP.
Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx expect to award the tunneling contract in mid-2021.
The CA$4.7 billion project is designed to extend Metrolinx's Eglinton Crosstown light-rail line 5.7 miles to the west, mostly underground. The extension will create connections between Union Pearson Express trains and the Kitchener GO Transit line.
