Rail News from Railroad Software, Penn Machine, Strategic Rail Finance, CDM, ENSCO and Keolis (March 29)

Railroad Software has added bridge inspection software to its TrackAsset application, according to a company press release. The electronic capture of bridge inspections will enable users to visualize bridge details and perform annual inspection in real time.

Penn Machine, which manufacturers wheels and axles for transit and railroad applications, added two Honor Seiki vertical turning centers to the machining facility in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, according to a Penn Machine press release. The turning centers assist with turning wheels up to 44-inches in diameter, as well as with live tool drilling, threading and probing.

Strategic Rail Finance (SRF) named Carl Belke as executive consultant in the firm’s business advisory practice. Belke has 45 years of freight-rail industry experience, according to an SRF press release. He has held positions as chief operating officer and chief engineer at multiple short-line railroads and served in leaderships roles for Genesee & Wyoming Inc. Belke is also on the ASLRRA executive board and chairman of the association’s engineering committee.

CDM Electronics has promoted Robert Grzib to marketing manager. His responsibilities will including developing and implementing a corporate strategy for branding, advertising and corporate outreach, according to a CDM press release. Grzib joined CDM in 2012 as a product manager, and has 30 years of electronic component industry experience. 

ENSCO Inc. will mark its 50th anniversary on March 31. ENSCO was founded by Paul Broome as a group of companies providing engineering, science and advanced technology solutions.

Keolis has opened a third section of its Hyderabad automated metro rail and inaugurated the first passenger service in the direction of Hitec City, Telangana, India, the company announced in a press release. The section adds about 6 miles to its more than 25-mile network.
