The Surface Transportation Board's Railroad-Shipper Transportation Advisory Council (RSTAC) elected a new slate of officers at its recent meeting in Washington, D.C.Larry Malski, who serves as president of the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Railroad Authority, was elected chairman of the council, while Wayne Hurst was named vice chairman. Hurst also serves as chairman of the National Wheat Foundation.Florida East Coast Railway President and Chief Executive Officer Nathan Asplund was named vice chair of RSTAC.The council's 15 appointed members consist of senior officials representing large and small shippers, and large and small railroads. In addition, the U.S. transportation secretary and the five STB members serve as ex officio members.RSTAC provides advice on regulatory, policy and legislative matters to the STB chairman, the U.S. transportation secretary and congressional committees.
