UP budgets $56.2 million for Nevada infrastructure work

imageUnion Pacific Railroad has earmarked $56.2 million for infrastructure projects in Nevada this year.The Class I's plans for the state include $53 million to maintain railroad track and $3.2 million to maintain bridges, according to a UP press release.Key projects this year will include $12.3 million to replace more than 100,800 ties between North Las Vegas and the Utah border; $9 million to replace 19 miles of rail along the Nevada subdivision in Winnemucca; and $9 million to replace 20 miles of rail along the Elko subdivision between Winnemucca and Golconda.UP has invested more than $223.6 million on its Nevada infrastructure over the past five years.
