VRE recognized for excellence in financial reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) last week awarded Virginia Railway Express (VRE) a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the commuter railroad’s annual financial report. 

A GFOA panel determined that VRE’s financial report for fiscal years 2019 and 2018 demonstrated a "spirit of transparency and full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report, GFOA officials said in a VRE press release.

The certificate is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, VRE officials said.

This is the 13th consecutive year VRE has received the certificate.
