CN's road transportation subsidiary CNTL has selected ISAAC Instruments' telemetry solution to optimize the Class I's road safety efforts on its fleet of more than 1,000 trucks.

The devices are expected to be delivered and installed in the next 30 days, CN officials said in a press release.

ISAAC's automated telemetry solution turns complex data into meaningful indicators. The integrated mobile communication technology provides real-time connectivity between drivers and company personnel, which helps advance operations.

Prior to selecting ISAAC, a trial period to test the ISAAC solution revealed "significant improvements in driving behavior," CN officials said. Drivers were able to reduce hard maneuvers and speed as a result of real-time feedback available on the tablet inside the cab.

"This newly implemented system will better enable CNTL to generate key performance indicators while ensuring safety on the roads," said Dan Bresolin, vice president of intermodal at CN.

ISSAC's telemetry solution is designed to reduce potential distractions while driving, with real-time coaching to guide drivers on good driving practices, said Jacques DeLarochelliere, president of ISAAC Instruments.

"This not only enhances safety, it also helps fuel economy," he added.
