Watco to begin transloading operations at NS terminal in Sandusky

Watco Transloading LLC has obtained a definitive licensed agreement with Norfolk Southern Corp. to operate a new NS Thoroughbred Bulk Terminal (TBT) in Sandusky, Ohio.

NS is leveraging existing infrastructure of the former Triple Crown Services facility to enable Watco and NS to drive new incremental transload business, Watco officials said in a press release issued yesterday.

Thirty paved rail-car spots are available for Watco's use at the terminal, with laydown space available for ongoing storage of customer products. The company expects to begin operations this month.

Watco will focus on transloading a range of commodities, including chemicals, plastics, forest products, steel products and agricultural products. Operations will include origin and destination transloading, as well as outside storage for break-bulk products.

The Sandusky operations will add to Watco's growing list of Watco-operated TBTs in the Ohio region, company officials said.

Watco's other operated TBTs in the region are in Columbus and Euclid, Ohio, and Willis, Mich.
